New Destinations: Ready, Set, Splunk!
Ready for an adventure? Think you are fit? Have a little A in your personality type? Our Senior Sales Executive, Lana Casavant, answered with a whole-hearted yes, as she laced up her boots to give caving in Alberta a test run for our clients.
Not for the faint of heart, the wild undeveloped cave under Grotto Mountain, had no lighting, no handrails, and no walkways. Just the majesty of the cave as nature and 350 million years created it – huge, hanging stalactites, towering stalagmites, animal bones, and forgotten fossils. Kitted out in the latest caving fashion – coveralls, knee pads, gloves, and a helmet – Lana climbed, crawled, and squeezed her way through an unforgettable exploration of this Provincial Historic Site.
This adventure also had lots of moments to explore and understand the geology of the region, examine fossils, and get up close and personal with thousand-year-old First Nations’ rock paintings.
Led by an knowledgeable guide, this experience felt unique and personal. Like going for a hike with a, very well-informed, old friend who incidentally was incredibly encouraging and knew just how adventurous you wanted to be.
Located near Banff and Canmore, and led by Canmore Cave Tours, we give it an A for adrenalin. We can’t wait to go back!
